The lovely Jess from Fox And Owl Polish sent me her new nontoxic Soy Nail Polish Remover to try. The remover is slightly bubble gum scented and not overwhelming at all.
The directions for use are on the product listing but basically you brush the oil on, leave it there for 1-3 minutes and then wipe the clean.

I started with three coats of Celestial Cosmetics Trip and two coats of Glisten and Glow HK Girl Top Coat. This is my favourite top coat but it is hard to remove even for my acetone polish removers. This is how I normally do my manis so I wanted to see if I could use the remover in every day life.

It took three applications, each one minute each, for the polish to be fully removed. The soy remover turns the polish into a sticky consistency that you can then wipe off your nail easily. Next time I would leave the soy remover on longer and not be so impatient.
The main thing I noticed after using this was that my cuticles and nails were beautifully hydrated. Acetone removers are a lot quicker but they dehydrate my nails and cuticles badly. I find I get more nail breaks when I use acetone too. I don’t think I would use this for glitter polish as it would require too many applications to get the glitter off. For my every day manis, like this one, I will definitely use it. Three applications sounds like a lot but it’s not when watching tv. Leaving the soy remover on for longer would get better result too. You will have to try it for yourself to fully understand how good your nails and cuticles feel after use.
I love that natural products are becoming more widely available. By using this soy remover, I am able to cut acetone out of my life and it’s biodegradable. So it’s good for me and the environment.
