Born Pretty Store Decals Review

27/09/2014

Born Pretty Store sent me some decals to review a while ago. My health has finally allowed me to use them.

The lovely Jacinta from Powder Perfect recently sent me Bliss Polish White Hot to review. White Hot is a matte white polish that has a lovely shimmer when top coated. Being a matte formula, the polish dries really quickly so you have to work fast and going over the same spot twice will cause problems. Two coats will give an opaque finish and the quick drying time makes the whole process a lot shorter. I put Barry M Lady on the ring finger as I think it looks like snow and the slight shimmer matches the decals perfectly.

The Born Pretty Store Decals are a Deer and Snow Pattern. I chose to use the peach coloured pattern as it reminded me of both snowflakes and spring flowers so it made sense to use them at this time of year. To use the decals, I cut out the print I wanted and then cut that into pieces that would fit each nail. Then I put one piece at a time into warm water (not hot – I tried that and it’s a major fail). After 20 seconds the backing paper comes off and the decal easily slips onto the nail. Once you have it in the position you want, mop the water up with paper towel and top coat. I used the Powder Perfect Top Coat for both sets of decals and it worked really well. Some of my top coats (looking at you HK Girl) smudge decals but the Powder Perfect Top Coat doesn’t do that for me. I really loved wearing this mani and had lots of compliments on the final look.

When I first saw the Born Pretty Store Leopard Pattern decals, I knew I wanted to do this design. I put two easy coats of OPI Black Onyx (Note: OPI is NOT cruelty free) on my middle, index and thumb. Then I put OPI Love.Angel.Music.Baby on my ring and pinky fingers. This polish has a satin appearance without topcoat but I love the shimmer look when it has topcoat over it. Love.Angel.Music.Baby has a great formula, and is opaque within two coats. The Leopard print decals are designed for short rounded nails, so I chose individual images that were bigger than my nails and cut them down to make a straight line. I have tried to do free hand leopard print nails before but my skill level isn’t there yet so these are the perfect solution for me. I love that both hands can look the same with very little fuss.

Do you like these decals? Is there another decal pattern I have to try?

Love, Alinta
