Powder Perfect Lady Of The Palace

14/09/2014

The lovely Jacinta from Powder Perfect sent me her Lady Of The Palace collection to review. This collection is inspired by Marie Antoinette and is exclusive to Mei Mei’s Signatures. When I found out about this collection I went and watched Marie Antionette the movie with Kirsten Dunst as the lead. Watching the movie has allowed me to see just how perfect this collection is. The Lady Of The Palace collection “draws upon imagery from lavish lifestyles of the French aristocracy. Inspiration from powdered hairstyles, extravagant layers of frilly dresses to lush sprawling estates, this era in history is visually rich and exciting”.

Crinoline is an ivory crelly with aqua, caramel and gold glitters. The application of this polish was great, I used two thicker coats but you could also do three thin coats. I really enjoyed wearing this polish and would frequently find myself staring at my nails. The wear time was also great, I wore this 5 days with minimal tip wear. It’s so versatile too, I would wear it to a wedding or work and obviously around the house on an every day basis.

A Crinoline is a rigid petticoat that held up the amazing dresses of that era. I recommend watching the 2006 movie if only to see the costumes and decorations. There is so much ivory, gold and blue so this polish perfectly represents the beautiful gowns of the era.

Powder Perfect Escape To The Petit Trianon is a green holographic polish with lots of gold flakies. Application is easy, with it being opaque in two coats. The flakies make the surface slightly uneven but nothing a good top coat can’t fix. I used Powder Perfect Fast Shine Top Coat and it worked really well with these polishes. After a day or so I had slight tip wear but I expected that as my nail chemistry doesn’t play well with holographic pigment.

In sunlight the polish is a forest green with a strong linear holographic sparkle. Out of direct sunlight is when the polish comes alive. The polish appears to be a lighter green with lots of gold flakies reflecting the light. It reminded me of looking up into the canopy of a tree with the sunlight peeping through as the leaves move in the breeze. This polish really does represent the days spent in the sprawling gardens of that era.

Powder Perfect la Dauphine is a warm maroon holo with bronze flakies. I couldn’t see any bronze flakies in this polish but the linear holo was strong (my camera wouldn’t pick it up). Application was great and the polish was opaque in two coats. As I said above, holos don’t play well with me so I did get slight tip wear after a day but nothing you would see unless you are taking close up photos. Whenever I think about royalty, this colour is exactly what comes to my mind. I can easily see the ladies of the French aristocracy wearing this rich colour.

These polishes are only available through Mei Mei’s Signatures where there is world wide delivery so that everyone can get them. It ends up cheaper to buy them as the Trio but they are also available individually. Powder Perfect will be closing on the 15th September and reopening late October as Jacinta is getting married. She has 35% off Cute-icle sticks so go check it out, I use mine daily. Powder Perfect’s closure wont effect Mei Mei’s Signatures so you can still get your Powder Perfect fix throughout that time.

Do you love the Lady Of The Palace trio collection as much as I do? Do you have a favourite?

Love, Alinta
