Indie Extravaganza Box Vol 3 Review

29/01/2015

I recently got the Australian Indie Extravaganza Box – Vol 3. It is a cute little circus themed box with 5 polishes from different indie brands. Volume 3 consists of Lilypad Lacquer, Celestial Cosmetics, Powder Perfect, Sayuri Nail Lacquer and Arcane Lacquer. Each brand was asked to make their signature shade so these boxes are great for people new to indies as you can get a taste of many brands easily.

This post is picture heavy so that you can see the polishes in different lights.

Lilypad Lacquer Shining Bright is described as an orange crelly with gold and pink shimmer but I can also see flakies in the mix too. Shining bright is a beautiful orange and the gold micro glitters make it sparkle in the sunshine. As with all Lilypad Lacquers, Shining Bright has a great formula. The Jelly consistency means it is sheer on the first coat but three layers make it nice and opaque. I’m not typically an orange person but this one is perfect for summer and definitely reminds me of the circus.

Celestial Cosmetics Cosmic Dust

Celestial Cosmetics Cosmic Dust is a dark blue linear holographic polish. Celestial Cosmetics are known for doing beautiful linear holo polishes and this one is no exception. I can sometimes find linear holographic polishes a bit plain but I really love this one. The formula is great and the polish is opaque in two coats. This really is the essence of Celestial Cosmetics and a great polish to start with.

Powder Perfect Ringmaster

Powder Perfect Ringmaster

Powder Perfect Ringmaster is an indigo micro glitter consisting of purple, pink, red and silver glitters (there also seems to be a yellow or gold glitter in there too). If you have read any of my other posts, you will know that I am in love with Powder Perfect micro glitters. They can be used as a textured polish when no top coat is applied but when you use topcoat, the glitters come alive creating the most sparkly polishes around. I love all the different micro glitter colours in Ringmaster, it makes for a very interesting polish. As with all Powder Perfect micro glitters, the formula is thick but that’s the way you want it as it stops cuticle flooding. I think this is the perfect polish to showcase Powder Perfect as they have the best micro glitters and all of the glitter colours show how diverse Powder Perfect polishes can be.

Arcane Lacquer Glass Crush

Arcane Lacquer Glass Crush is a dark teal crelly with matte and iridescent glitters. The crelly formula allows the glitters from the lower layers to just show through creating a depth that I just can’t capture in photos. Two coats of Glass Crush make it mostly opaque but three layers creates more depth with the glitters. When in sunlight the tiny holographic glitters shine. When in the shade, the larger glitters take centre stage alongside what seems to be a pink shimmer. This is a typical Arcane Lacquer polish, I can never explain them as they are always so unique.

Sayuri Nail Lacquer Show Pony

Last but not least is Sayuri Nail Lacquer Show Pony. Show Pony is a lovely fuschia crelly with matte pink and purple glitters and tiny pink and purple glitters. In the shade, the glitters create a purple shimmer effect and in the sun they sparkle. I loved this so much that I had to swatch it. I used three coats plus topcoat in my swatches. Keeping in mind that my health has taken a hit recently, so my shakes and vision are worse, which makes polishing harder.

I adore Show Pony but I don’t think my swatches do it justice. It is a beautiful shade of pink that will be perfect for Valentines Day. I haven’t tried many Sayuri polishes but if this shade is their signature then I’m going to have to try some more in the near future.

Overall, I love this box. I love the idea of an indie box where you can see the polishes beforehand to know if you want them or not. I also love all the polishes included, they are all unique and special in their own right. I highly recommend this to anyone new to indies, this is a great set of polishes to start with. I also think it is a necessity for any polish lover like me, they are great polishes to add to any collection.

You can grab your box from Powder Perfect but be quick as only 25 bottles of each shade have been made.
Love, Alinta
