Disney Princess What's In-die Box? Review

15/04/2015

Today I have the March Disney Princess What’s In-die Box review to show you. Sorry, I know I’m late to post it seeing as this months box is already on its way.

The polishes included in the Disney Princess box were Shades Of Phoenix ‘Tangled Knots’, Lilypad Lacquer ‘Free Spirit’, Glam Polish ‘Ariel’, Gloss n Sparkle ‘Minutes To Midnight’ and Peita’s Polish ‘Once Upon A Dream’.
Shades Of Phoenix Tangled Knots

Shades Of Phoenix Tangled Knots

Shades Of Phoenix ‘Tangled Knots’ is inspired by Rapunzel, specifically the floating light scene in Tangled. Tangled Knots is a deep purple jelly with larger holo hex glitter, micro gold glitters and shards. This required three coats to be opaque and had no formula problems. The jelly is sheer enough that lower layers of glitters can be seen which gives it great depth. It is a good representation of the sky in the floating lights scene, I was hoping for a little more gold but it is pretty as is.
Lilypad Lacquer Free Spirit

Lilypad Lacquer ‘Free Spirit’ is inspired by Pocahontas. Free Spirit is sand coloured creme base with micro holographic glitter, micro teal glitters and what seems to be some small flakies scattered throughout. The photos don’t show the sparkle well but you can clearly see the scattered holographic effect in the sunlight. As with all Lilypad Lacquers, it had a great formula and was opaque in two coats. I wouldn’t say this polish reminds me of Pocahontas but it is pretty to look at.
Glam Polish Ariel

Glam Polish ‘Ariel’ is obviously inspired by Ariel from The Little Mermaid. Ariel is a teal based holographic polish with teal glitters scattered throughout. This polish has the same formula as a previous WIDB Glam Polish, Violet Be Mine. Ariel is opaque with two coats but will require two thick coats of top coat to get a smooth finish, as when dry Ariel becomes slightly textured. It is the perfect shade to represent The Little Mermaid.
Gloss n Sparkle Minutes to Midnight

Gloss n Sparkle ‘Minutes to Midnight’ is inspired by Cinderella. Minutes to Midnight is a light blue creme, almost crelly with blue and white microglitters/shimmer throughout. Minutes to Midnight required three coats to be opaque as the formula is a bit finicky. It seems to be a little too thick but also slightly sheer so it needs the extra coats to be opaque but it also doesn’t self level well so gaps easily appear. It is a very pretty colour and the shimmer makes it sparkle in the sunlight. It certainly reminds me of Cinderella and her dress.
Peita’s Polish Once Upon A Dream

Peita’s Polish Once Upon A Dream

Peita’s Polish ‘Once Upon A Dream’ is inspired by Aurora from Sleeping Beauty. Once Upon A Dream is a clear based glitter polish with light pink, dark pink and gold hex glitters as well as micro holographic glitters. I would class this as a glitter topper as even with three coats, there are still visible gaps that don’t have glitter in them. The glitter is suspended well and is easy to apply with a little bit of dabbing. The glitters compliment each other nicely but I haven’t seen sleeping beauty so can’t tell you if it represents Aurora well.

Overall, this box is nice but it didn’t blow me away. I would like to see if Free Spirit and Ariel could be used in a mani together (my creative juices aren’t flowing at the moment). As usual, my main suggestion for future boxes is that there could be more collaboration between the makers so that the polishes can be used in manis together. I am so excited for the next What’s In-die Box? which is inspired by The Game Of Thrones. It should be arriving sometime this week, but don’t worry I won’t post my review until well after everyone has received theirs, I would hate to spoil the surprise for others.

What do you think of the Disney Princess What’s In-die Box?

Love, Alinta
