Bellabox May 2015 Review

I’m back, sorry for the lapse in posts. I am still alive … just. Today I thought I would review the May Bellabox as my previous Bellabox review was very popular. I am honest in these reviews even if I get the company off side, as my loyalty is to you, the reader. Please note: This post was written before I became cruelty free and therefore non cruelty free products may be mentioned.

May 2015 Bellabox
In my May box I got a Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Moisture Rich Night Cream, a Real-U Control + Face Gel, an Impulse Romantic Spark Perfume In A Spray, A Chella Ivory Lace Highlighter Pencil, an Eye Of Horus Goddess Pencil and a little sample of Sunescape Hydrating Gradual Tan Extender.
I will start with the two products that I can’t use. I have received so many Palmer’s Cocoa Butter products, but I react to all of them, and haven’t been able to use any. I’ve emailed Bellabox a few times asking them to not include these samples, but each time they have said they can’t help me with my concern. The other product is the gradual tan extender. I don’t fake tan so a tan extender is useless to me therefore I can’t tell you it it’s good or not. The packaging says it is a ‘self-tanner, tan extender and moisturiser all in one’, so that may appeal to some of you.

The Real-U Control + Face Gel is supposed to control breakouts and reduce pore size. I think my skin is just a bit too sensitive for this product right now as it made me itchy. I haven’t been able to use any treatment products this whole year due to skin sensitivity. I like that it doesn’t contain Benzoyl Peroxide or Salicylic Acid, so normal skin shouldn’t have any problems with this product.
The Impulse Romantic Spark came in a tiny little spray bottle. The packing is handy as it can easily fit in a small bag for smelly situations. The scent itself is supposed to be a mix of violets and earthy woods. I don’t particularly like the scent so wouldn’t consider buying a full size product but it will be ok for my emergency makeup bag.
Chella Highlighter Pencil with highlight guide sheet

The Chella Ivory Lace Highlighter Pencil is a chubby wood pencil with a light colored tip. The packaging is convenient and the product glides on easily enough, but it isn’t light enough for my skin tone. I am very fair, so it should work for most people as a highlighter. The box included a picture of where to highlight your face but I think this product will be more useful  as an eye highlighter as opposed to all over face highlighter.
Eye Of Horus Goddess Pencil in Teal Malachite

Last but not least is the Eye Of Horus Goddess Pencil in Teal Malachite. Eye Of Horus Cosmetics is a cruelty free Australian brand who make eyeliners, brow products and mascaras. The Goddess Pencil comes in a nice gold and black cardboard package with blue inside (as the product is blue). The pencil has a lid on each end, one end has the pencil and the other end has a smudger. The pencil glides on so easily, it doesn’t pull at the eye skin at all. If you take the smudger to the line of product immediately then it can be smudged out. If you leave the product to set then it stays on for many hours. This is the longest lasting pencil eyeliner in my collection. The blue colour is very pigmented and has tiny sparks that aren’t very noticeable when on the lid. I really wish I had been given the brown or black version so that I could test it for daily wear. The blue is a nice colour but I don’t see myself getting much use out of it. I would love to try the black and brown goddess pencils as well as the Eye Of Horus brow pencils but the $25 – $30 price point is a bit high for my liking.I won’t get much use out of many of these products but this box was worthwhile to me just to try the eyeliner. I hope Eye Of Horus partner with Bellabox again in future and that Bellabox includes more cruelty free products to sample.

Love, Alinta
