Hair&Me Hair Rejuvenation Treatment Review

A little while ago Hair&Me sent me their Hair Rejuvenation Treatment to test out and review. Hair&Me are a small Australian business who make organic hair care products. Their line consists of the hair treatment, a strengthening shampoo and strengthening conditioner. All of the Hair&Me products are both cruelty free and vegan friendly, which I love. The Hair&Me Hair Rejuvenation Treatment is designed to strengthen and hydrate the hair and also addresses dry scalp conditions and dandruff. Hair&Me also claim that this treatment is able to reduce blow drying time by 30-50%.

Hair&Me Hair Rejuvenation Treatment

The Hair Rejuvenation Treatment is an oil based pre-shampoo treatment that contains coconut, macadamia, jojoba and almond oil. This treatment comes in a handy squeezable package, so you are able to easily get the product out. Being oil based, the product consistency will vary depending on the temperature. Hair&Me advise putting this in the fridge before use to make the product easier to work with. I was using the product on a really cold days though, so I had to put the package in front of the heater briefly before use to soften it up.

For this review, I used the whole package of product which was enough for three separate treatments. I did the same routine for each use, which consisted of me wetting my hair in the shower quickly, then applying the treatment, waiting at least 45 mins (with a towel on my shoulders), and then washing it out in the shower. I did as Hair&Me advised and rinsed my hair with shampoo twice to ensure all the product was out.

Hair&Me Hair Rejuvenation Treatment

I have used a few different hair treatments before this but they have all been in-shower treatments, so the whole process was much shorter. This hair treatment requires at least 45 minutes in the hair to work, and you can leave it in overnight if you like, but it does mean that you need to plan ahead to do it, it’s not something you can use last minute. The long leave-in time ensures that the oils penetrate the hair follicle, and I did find that my hair was softer after use. I’ve never dyed my hair so it isn’t particularly dry, therefore I think drier hair types would see a bigger difference in softness than I did. The main thing I wanted from the treatment was for my flyaways and baby hairs to tamed but the treatment didn’t really help with that. I do have many more flyaways than most people due to some of my hair regrowing after it thinned during illness. I don’t have many split ends as I had a large amount of hair chopped off a few months ago (which I spoke about in my Hair Talk post), but I think this would be a really good treatment to both prevent and help to repair any split ends you might have. The dry time of my hair was also decreased but I have no idea by what percentage. Hair&Me say that the oil is able to push out the trapped water in the cuticle, making for a quicker blow dry time. Therefore the quicker blow drying time should work for everyone.

There were a few things that didn’t work for me with this treatment. When applying the treatment, there is no immediate detangling effect, so I found that I was pulling some hair out when I was trying to spread the product throughout my hair. I did brush my hair before using the treatment but I still found my hair tangling in the application process. The other problem for me was that the oil got everywhere, this was partly user error though. I didn’t even think to put my hair in a shower cap whilst it was being treated, but I certainly would if I did it again. For me, coconut oil is comedogenic – I find that it blocks my pores really badly – so I made sure that there were no remnants on my face or back as I would break out otherwise. Some people have no issues with coconut oil and are even able to use it on their face, but my sensitive combination skin really doesn’t like it.

Overall, I really like that Hair&Me are focusing on organic, cruelty free and vegan products. I didn’t see the results that I was looking for from this treatment, but in reality I don’t think anything will help my flyaways much, I just have to wait for them to regrow. The treatment did make my hair feel softer and decreased the drying time, but I think it would do even more for someone who has a dry hair type or colour treated hair. I can have a dry scalp and I frequently react to hair products but I didn’t have any reaction to this product and felt that it moisturized my scalp nicely. I originally thought that the $20 price tag was too much, but I was able to get three treatments out of one package so that makes it much better value. If I were to try this product again, I think I would invest in the shampoo and conditioner too, to see what the results of using all three together are like. I am interested to see what else Hair&Me come out with and will consider buying from them in the future. Does the Hair Rejuvenation Treatment appeal to you?

Love, Alinta

That oil sure does get away from you, doesn't it?! I wrapped my head up in a plastic bag and that helped a bit, but of course, stupid here also used the whole package in one go. Not recommended unless you're aiming to treat ALL of your body hair 😉

I think I would have given up if I put it all in at once lol the third time when there wasn't much product was certainly the best experience 🙂
