Eye Of Horus Artistry Lip Liner Swatches

04/03/2019

Eye Of Horus Cosmetics recently launched their Artistry Lip Liner range. It consists of 6 lip liners that were made to match the Eye Of Horus Bio Lipsticks. If you’ve followed my blog or Instagram for any period of time, then you’ll already know that the Bio Lipsticks are my favourite lipstick formula. I wrote a full review on them that you can read. All of the Bio Lipsticks and Artistry Lip Liners are cruelty free and vegan friendly. There are 7 Bio Lipsticks and 6 Artistry Lip Liners, so some lip liners are made to match multiple lipsticks. I went in store and swatched all the lip liners next to the lipsticks so that you could get a good idea of what goes with what. The swatches are really messy as it was done in store, but it’s the best I can do when I don’t own the range of products.

The Eye Of Horus Artistry Lip Liners feature a retractable pencil head and a removable sharpener on the end, making it easy to sharpen the liner into a precise point. This is my favourite liner packaging as there is no sharpening of wooden bits that can sharpen unevenly and end up poking my lips. If I’m being lazy, then I will just use the lip liner without sharpening the tip, but you can get a really precise application if you sharpen it before use. The pencil itself is nice and soft. It easily glides onto the lips without any pulling or tugging. As with any lip liner, they can be used under lipstick to make the lipstick last longer, used by themselves as a full lip colour, or used under a gloss to add extra dimension to the lips.

The 6 Artistry Lip Liner colours are Arabian Sand (nude), Egyptian Rose (nude rose), Sacred Hibiscus (pink), Royal Orchid (mauve), Pure Scarlet (deep red) and Persian Chilli (Spicy Red). The website says that Pure Scarlet and Persian Chilli are made to match the Vesta Red Bio Lipstick, Scared Hibiscus is made to match Venus Pink Bio Lipstick, Royal Orchid is made to match Cleo Plum Bio Lipstick, Egyptian Rose is made to match Aurora Peach and Arabian Sand is made to match Artemis Nude Bio Lipstick. Which leaves Freya Rose and Inanna Honey Bio Lipsticks without direct lip liner matches, but you can of course match any lip liner with any lipstick of your choice. I was however really hoping to get an exact match for those two lipsticks as they have been the hardest to find a lip liner match for in my collection. I also think Egyptian Rose should have been named something else as the liner colour isn’t rosey in tone at all.

The one colour I have to test out the formula is Sacred Hibiscus, a pink that matches the Venus Pink Bio Lipstick nicely. The Hibiscus lip liner is slightly cooler then the Pink lipstick, but you can’t tell the difference on the lips. I’ve also used the Sacred Hibiscus liner with my Cleo Plum lipstick and they work well together too. The Hibiscus liner will warm up Cleo Plum whereas Royal Orchid will make it cooler. The same thing goes for the Pure Scarlet and Persian Chilli liners as one can make Vesta Red brighter and one will make it darker and cooler.

I’m happy that Eye Of Horus Cosmetics decided to release lip liners to match the bio lipsticks, as I really like to line my lips before using a traditional lipstick to help make them last longer, and ensure that there’s no lipstick bleeding. I hope they bring out true colour matches for the Rose and Honey Bio Lipsticks as they’re colours I don’t own matching liners to from any brand in my collection. I’m still hoping for a Bio Lipstick that is in the nude/pink family, kind of like Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk, and a matching Artistry Lip Liner. If they do make them, they will absolutely be the most used products in my collection. Right now Venus Pink is my most used lipstick and I love the look of it with the Sacred Hibiscus liner. It’s great pink shade that matches so many makeup looks. Which Artistry Lip Liner and Bio Lipstick shade do you like best?

I hope the swatches have helped you to get a better idea of the Artistry Lip Liner colours. I couldn’t find any swatches that compared the liners to the lipsticks, so I figured I would do it. I only own the pink liner, but they all seemed to have a similar formula when I swatched them. If you do own another colour, I would love to know what you think. You can buy the Artistry Lip Liners from the Eye Of Horus Website or one of their stockists. Flora and Fauna (affiliate) don’t yet have the lip liners available but they do have the Bio Lipsticks in stock. I can also go in store and swatch all the Eye Of Horus Velvet Lips if you want to see that, let me know in the comments.
