Makeup Geek Cosmetics is a cruelty free American company owned and run by Marlena Stell (previously known as Makeup Geek on YouTube). All Makeup Geek products are talc-free and made in the USA. Today I have swatches and a review of the Makeup Geek Flawless Full Face Palettes in Porcelain Princess and Fair Lady.

I am a huge fan of the Makeup Geek single eyeshadows, they have been featured in many of my end of year favourites posts, but today I have a different product to share with you. Makeup Geek kindly sent me their two lightest face palettes to swatch and review. They are a part of the Flawlessly Ever After collection which consists of 4 face palettes in different shades, Porcelain Princess, Fair Lady, Bronze Baroness and Ebony Empress. Each Makeup Geek face palette consists of a highlighter, contour and two blush shades. The palettes contain 3.60 g x 4 and have the sleek gunmetal grey Makeup Geek packaging, with an inbuilt large mirror for easy application on the go. All of the palettes are vegan friendly and the rest of the vegan products from Makeup Geek can be found on their vegan product page.

Top to bottom: Radiant, Betrayal, Flirt and A’mour.
Makeup Geek originally sent me the Fair Lady Flawlessly Full Face Palette. It includes Radiant, Betrayal, Flirt and A’mour. Radiant is a gold satin highlight, Betrayal is a matte warm toned bronzer shade, Flirt is a matte bright orange blush and A’mour is a matte cool mauve blush. The only shade I can use on my very fair skin tone is A’mour, so after seeing my swatches, Makeup Geek sent me out the lightest palette in their range.

Top to bottom: Gleam, Tryst, Sweetheart and First Crush.
The Porcelain Princess Flawlessly Full Face Palette includes Gleam, Tryst, Sweetheart and First Crush. Gleam is a white based highlighter with a strong yellow sheen, Tryst is a matte warm toned bronzer shade that is slightly lighter than Betrayal, Sweetheart is a matte light peach blush and First Crush is a matte cool light pink blush. These shades are far more suitable for my fair skin tone.

When compared to each other, the difference in shades is very obvious. In my opinion, Fair Lady should really be called medium, and a palette with lighter shades could be included and called fair instead. Most of these powders were soft and easy to use, I did find that Radiant and Flirt from the Fair Lady palette were slightly firmer and harder to use, but they were still usable. I really appreciate that a brand has actually thought enough about the difference in skin tones to bring out multiple face palettes, as most companies release one face palette, two at most, and that leaves out a lot of skin tones. There are very few face palettes that I can use even a single shade from, so I love how light the colours in the Porcelain Princess palette are. If I’m being picky, I would prefer a highlighter that wasn’t so yellow, as I tend to wear neutral to pink highlighters. My skin tone is very pink based, so yellow can look a bit weird on my skin tone, but it will suit neutral and warm fair skin tones well. The contours in both palettes are really bronzers. Tryst is almost too warm to look right on my very fair pink skin, but I can just get away with it. I would have loved a cooler shade that could really be used as a contour, as contours for very fair skin are so hard to find. I do really love that each palette contains two blush choices, as I find that a different shade of blush will change up a makeup look a lot more than a different highlighter or bronzer/contour will. Sweetheart and First crush both apply well and look nice on my skin. If you’re as fair as I am, I would say to give the Porcelain Princess palette a go. All the Makeup Geek face palettes are on sale for US$20 on the website at the moment, so you really can’t beat that price.

I’ve also got some bonus lip product swatches. Makeup Geek sent me 4 lip shades, each from a different lip product line that they sell. There’s Beauty Queen, a warm red Plush Matte, Cha Cha a medium pink Showstopper Creme Stain, Lively a pink plum Iconic Lipstick and VIP a light peachy pink Foiled Lip Gloss. Cha Cha is out of stock on the website, I’m unsure if that’s because it is discontinued due to the upcoming Makeup Geek re-brand or if it’s just currently out of stock. All the other shades are currently available on the website at the moment. I will be swatching all of my Makeup Geek single eyeshadows soon, hopefully before the full re-brand, which has been pushed back to Autumn in the Northern Hemisphere.

What do you think of the Makeup Geek face palettes? I love that they’re cruelty free, vegan friendly and come in 4 shades so that every skin tone is included. I tend to always miss out on face palettes as the limited shade ranges that companies produce are never light enough for me, so I’m glad I now have one I can use. The packaging is sleek and a great size for travelling, plus the included mirror is actually big enough to put on makeup with. Makeup Geek really think about their customers when producing their makeup lines, which I appreciate. There has been a gap in their releases over the last year as they focused on expanding into Target stores in the USA, but I’m hoping this up coming re-brand will bring lots of great new products that international customers will enjoy too. If you want to buy anything from Makeup Geek, you can do so from their website, there is free shipping on international orders over US$75. I’ve purchased from the website many times without any problems, plus they pack their products well, so I’ve never had a broken item.
My next blog post will be about my awareness giveaway, so stay tuned for that, then I will be back to my regular cruelty free product reviews.
